RCMP in Yorkton, Sask. have charged two Fort McMurray men after a reported kidnapping involving a firearm in the city earlier this week.
Police say officers were called to Fourth Avenue North on January 20 after a report of suspicious activity. Investigators determined a man was sitting in a parked vehicle when two masked males approached, forced him out, and placed him into another SUV. The victim was threatened and had a firearm pointed at him, though it was not fired.
A short time later, police located the SUV on Highway 10 heading toward Melville. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and later crashed into a ditch. All occupants were arrested at the scene.
The victim suffered non life threatening injuries. A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded firearm, ammunition, and quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
Two men from Fort McMurray, a 24-year-old and a 20-year-old, now face multiple charges and appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on January 22.
