FORT MCMURRAY — The municipal election campaign ended more than three months ago, but one elected councillor says her focus on public engagement is just getting started.
Ward 1 Coun. Jennifer Vardy took to social media this week to ask residents how they would like to stay connected with her during her term in office, both online and in person.
“I want to ensure residents have meaningful opportunities to engage directly with me, both online and in person,” Vardy wrote. “My goal is to set aside intentional times and places that work for you, fit your lifestyle and create a space where conversations feel comfortable, not

complicated.”
In her post, Vardy outlined several ideas for councillor-led engagement, including drop-in chats at local coffee shops, meeting residents at family-friendly events such as Bikes and Trikes, hosting a meet-and-greet at Jubilee Plaza, and offering virtual engagement sessions.
Vardy encouraged residents to share their thoughts by comment, message or email, noting the outreach is separate from formal Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo public engagement processes tied to specific projects or consultations.
