YORKTON, Sask. Two Fort McMurray men charged with kidnapping with a firearm following an incident in Yorkton have appeared in court again.
Mounties say a man was sitting in a parked vehicle on Fourth Avenue North on Jan. 20 when two men wearing face coverings forced him out at gunpoint, placed him in a separate SUV and drove away.
Police later spotted an SUV matching the description on Highway 10 heading toward Melville. The vehicle failed to stop, left the roadway and hit the ditch, at which point the suspects were arrested.
A search of the SUV turned up a loaded firearm, a firearm magazine, ammunition, about 88 grams of cocaine, about 88 grams of crystal meth and about 16 grams of fentanyl.
Preston Carroll, 24, and Dante Douglas, 20, both of Fort McMurray, Alta., appeared in Yorkton provincial court on Jan. 27 for bail hearings. They were remanded in custody to Feb. 4, when a judge is expected to deliver a decision.
