FORT MCMURRAY — Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Mayor Sandy Bowman is recognizing two Saprae Creek residents for organizing a community food drive that collected more than 750 pounds of food for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
Bowman said Bo and Strider organized and carried out the drive on their own initiative, with no expectation of recognition.
“This is the very best of who we are as a region. Neighbours helping neighbours, leading by example, and showing that compassion and generosity are alive and well in our communities,” Bowman said in a statement.
He thanked the pair for their hard work and generosity, adding their efforts show how even a small group can make a meaningful difference.
“Saprae Creek and all of Wood Buffalo are proud of you,” Bowman said.
