RCMP have laid charges after completing an investigation into a fatal pedestrian collision in Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, south of Fort McMurray.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say the crash happened on Nokohoo Drive on November 14, 2025. A 16-year-old male driver from the community faces several charges, including dangerous operation causing death, criminal negligence causing death, failing to stop, driving without a licence, and driving uninsured.
The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and was released to appear in court March 18.
A 39-year-old woman from the same community is also charged with criminal negligence causing death and will appear the same day.
Police encourage the public to report suspicious or criminal activity to local police immediately.
