FORT MCMURRAY — While mid-term exams are on the mind of many post-secondary students, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is reminding students it is already accepting applications for summer jobs.
The municipality says full-time post-secondary students can apply for summer and co-op positions designed to provide work experience across several municipal departments.
Select summer and co-op student positions are scheduled to be posted online Feb. 21, with applications due March 13, unless otherwise noted in individual job postings. Additional positions are expected to be posted the following week with an application deadline of March 20.
Summer employment typically runs from early May through the end of August, while co-op placements may be offered at various times throughout the year.
Positions are available in departments including community services, human resources and safety, legal services, planning and development, environmental services, regional emergency services, corporate services and public works.
Summer student applicants must be enrolled in full-time studies at a recognized post-secondary institution, have completed at least one year of post-secondary studies and be returning to full-time studies in the fall 2026 semester. Co-op positions are available for students enrolled in a co-op program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
The municipality says it aims to make the hiring process accessible and encourages candidates requiring accommodations to contact Pulse at 780-743-7000 or online at rmwb.ca/pulse.
