FORT McMURRAY — Snow removal operations are set to continue across parts of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo next week, with parking restrictions in place for several neighbourhood subzones.
The municipality says Subzones 1 and 2 will be active from March 23 to March 27, with residents required to move vehicles off the street on their designated maintenance day between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Crews are also continuing work in Subzones 3 and 4, where temporary no-parking signs will be posted in advance of scheduled clearing. Officials say the work is focused on widening roads and preparing storm drains ahead of the spring thaw.
Snow removal will also take place on busier streets in Abasand and Thickwood not included in the winter maintenance zone program, with temporary parking restrictions expected in those areas.
The municipality is reminding residents to remove garbage and recycling bins from streets after collection, clear sidewalks within 48 hours of snowfall and avoid piling snow onto roads or near fire hydrants.
Officials say updates on winter maintenance zones are available online, through digital neighbourhood signage and by contacting the municipality’s Pulse service line.
