Big news out of Alberta: the massive roadside T-Rex in Drumheller – yes, the one you can literally climb inside – might be looking for a new home.
And honestly… Fort McMurray should take that personally.
This isn’t just any dino. This thing is 86 feet tall, weighs more than a herd of pickup trucks, and has been stopping tourists in their tracks for years at the World’s Largest Dinosaur. But with its future uncertain after 2029, the question becomes:
Who’s ready to adopt a giant T-Rex?
Answer: Fort McMurray.
Let’s be real, this city already does big better than most. Big trucks. Big projects. Big community events. Adding a giant dinosaur overlooking the Athabasca River? That just feels right.
And there’s history here too. Remember when researchers found evidence of dinosaurs in the region basically… floating around after they died? The whole “bloat and float” theory? Prehistoric Fort Mac was apparently a dino drift zone. Which means, scientifically speaking, dinosaurs already have roots here.
So really, bringing a giant T-Rex to town isn’t random… it’s a homecoming.
Picture it:
A massive T-Rex greeting people as they drive into the city. Tourists pulling over for selfies. Kids begging to climb it. Someone absolutely trying to decorate it for Christmas. It becomes the landmark. Sorry, everything else, there’s a new king in town.
And think about the tourism pitch:
“Come for the oilsands… stay for the enormous dinosaur.”
It sells itself.
So here’s the move:
Start the petition. Rally the community. Make some noise. Because if there’s a giant T-Rex in Alberta looking for a new home… there’s no reason it shouldn’t be standing tall right here in Fort Mac.
Let Drumheller share the spotlight for once
