FORT CHIPEWYAN, Alta. — An 18-year-old man has been charged following an aggravated assault in Fort Chipewyan over the weekend.
RCMP say officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Loutit Street at about 6:17 a.m. on March 29, where they found an adult male with serious facial injuries.
Police identified a suspect at the scene and arrested him without incident.
The victim was taken to a local nursing station before being airlifted to an Edmonton-area hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Thomas Cardinal has been charged with aggravated assault.
He was held for a judicial interim hearing and later released on conditions. Cardinal is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Chipewyan on May 7.
RCMP are asking anyone with information about criminal activity in the community to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
