FORT McMURRAY — Wood Buffalo RCMP say a 38-year-old man has been charged following the theft of a trailer and its contents valued at more than $10,000.
Police say officers responded March 4 to a report of a trailer stolen from behind a business in the 400 block of Gregoire Drive. The theft is believed to have occurred shortly after 2 a.m.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage and later recovered the stolen trailer on Stony Mountain Road.
Mounties say the investigation led to the identification of a suspect and vehicle. On March 8, officers arrested Chuck Jack Stuckley in connection with the case.
A search warrant executed at a residence on Amaco Road in the Gregoire Lake Reserve led to the recovery of several items reported stolen from the trailer, police said.
Stuckley is charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
He was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on April 15.
Police are asking anyone with information about suspicious or criminal activity to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
