Residents in the Westview and Tundra areas of Thickwood, expect a knock on your door this spring and summer as Fire Prevention teams are launching a renewed Home Fire Safety Program. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is offering free home assessments and installing new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms where needed, focusing on homes with outdated or non-working devices. Fire Marshal Nick Brenner reminds everyone: “Only a working smoke or carbon monoxide alarm can save your life. Test them regularly.” Now in its 13th year, the program has inspected over 1,800 homes and installed more than 3,700 alarms, thanks to support from the Enbridge Pipelines Fueling Futures Grant.
