Nominations open for Wood Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame
FORT McMURRAY AB— The Wood Buffalo Sports Connection is now accepting nominations for the Wood Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, an honour celebrating the achievements of the region’s amateur athletes, coaches, volunteers, sport leaders and supporting organizations.
The Wall of Honour recognizes individuals and groups who have made a lasting impact on the region’s sporting legacy. Past inductees include NHL player Scotty Upshall, ultramarathoner Phil Meagher, and current Mayor Sandy Bowman.
Nominations are open until October 4. Recipients will be selected by a dedicated committee and celebrated at the organization’s annual Multi-Sport Awards Banquet. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, entertainment and interactive exhibits that showcase local sports stories.
The Hall of Fame and banquet aim to strengthen community pride and honour the people behind Wood Buffalo’s continued athletic excellence, both on and off the field. More information is available through the Wood Buffalo Sports Connection.
