Seven new cases of COVID-19 are being discovered in Fort McMurray.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Friday 164 new cases across the province. This raises the provincial total to 14,474 with 1,433 currently active.
Fort McMurray now has 33 active cases after seeing an additional five recoveries.
The rural areas didn’t see any new changes with one case remaining active.
Across the RMWB, 153 individuals – 93 in Fort McMurray and 60 in the rural areas – have recovered from the virus.
They are among the 12,799 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 88 per cent of reported cases.
There were no new deaths from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours – keeping the death toll at 242.
None of the deaths have been in the RMWB.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hinshaw is reminding Albertans to follow all COVID-19 measures over the Labour Day Long Weekend.
This includes avoiding passing any items such as snacks, wearing a mask when physical distancing isn’t possible, and making sure any social gatherings are within the provincial limits.
