Starting August 22, Fort McMurray’s transit system is getting a major upgrade. All current routes will be replaced with two high-frequency core routes, seven neighbourhood routes, and a new Transit On Demand service for flexible travel.
Key changes:
-
Core routes run every 15 minutes during peak times and connect major areas from 5 a.m. to midnight weekdays.
-
Neighbourhood routes serve local areas during busy times, with On Demand covering off-peak hours.
-
Transit On Demand lets riders book rides within four zones via app, website, or phone, with pickups in 30 minutes or less.
-
Specialized Transit continues with improved booking and extended hours.
-
Main Street Transit Terminal closes; new stops open on Franklin Avenue.
No changes to fares or rural transit.
