The national rate of inflation dropped Canada’s annual inflation rate fell two ticks to 1.7 per cent in July thanks to lower prices at the pump.
Statistics Canada says gas prices were down more than 16 per cent year-over-year — partly because of the removal of the consumer carbon price.
Costs are going up at grocery stores at a quicker pace. Groceries rose 3.4 per cent annually — up from 2.8 per cent in June.
Meanwhile, rent price gains accelerated.
The inflation rate in Alberta is at 1.3 percent in July, a drop from 1.7 percent in June.
