RCMP seek public’s help after boat fire at Gregoire Lake deemed suspicious
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a boat at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park on August 22.
Police say they were called along with Regional Emergency Services to the boat launch around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a vessel on fire. The boat was engulfed in flames when crews arrived but no injuries were reported.
“The subsequent investigation has deemed the fire as suspicious,” RCMP said in a release. Officers are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity in the area or who has dashcam footage from the night of the fire.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wood Buffalo detachment or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. Police say public reports help them determine where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future.
