FORT MCMURRAY, AB. — While many high school students are off due to the ongoing teachers’ strike, Keyano College is moving full steam ahead with preparations for a new academic year and a new class of students.
The college will host its fall open house on October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting prospective students to explore its campus and learn more about programs in Trades and Technology, Health and Human Services, and University Studies and Academic Upgrading. Faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions, and visitors will get a look at Keyano’s facilities, including the recently added Esports Arena.
Founded in 1965 as the Alberta Vocational Centre, Keyano has grown alongside Fort McMurray, evolving from a small vocational school into a comprehensive post-secondary institution. Today, it offers training in trades and apprenticeships, health, business, and arts, reflecting the needs of both local industry and the wider Wood Buffalo region.
