Council excellence awards
FORT McMURRAY — Nominations are now open for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Council’s Excellence Awards, which celebrate residents and groups making a positive difference in the region.
The annual awards recognize community champions, young achievers and everyday heroes who demonstrate leadership, compassion and commitment to improving life in Wood Buffalo.
Residents can submit nominations for one of four categories:
Citizen of the Year – Honours an individual or group for outstanding contributions and achievements that have improved the quality of life in the region.
Everyday Hero – Recognizes someone who has made a positive impact through acts of kindness or selflessness, including those tied to a single event.
Indigenous Advocate – Celebrates an individual or group that has made significant contributions to Indigenous communities in the region.
Youth – Recognizes a young person or youth group, aged 15 to 34, whose achievements have enhanced community life or brought positive recognition to the region.
An advisory panel will review all nominations and make recommendations to Mayor and Council, who will select the final recipients. Winners and their nominators will be honoured at a ceremony in the new year.
More information, including the nomination guide and forms, is available on the municipality’s website.
