FORT MCMURRAY, AB — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has opened a Request for Proposals for a 0.54-acre parcel of land in the heart of downtown Fort McMurray.
The property sits at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Morrison Street, with direct access to Highway 63, and is zoned for mixed-use development. The municipality says the site aligns with the community’s vision for a vibrant, high-density downtown that combines commercial, office and residential spaces.
According to the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan, the project aims to foster round-the-clock activity through restaurants, cafés and services at street level, quality design, integrated public art and efficient parking.
Interested proponents can download the RFP and submit proposals online through Bids and Tenders until Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. Proposals will be evaluated in November, with the Sale and Construction Agreement expected to be finalized by March 2026. The sale may require council approval.
