Fort McMurray welcomes newcomers with free drop-in event on December 11FORT MCMURRAY — Newcomers to the region are being invited to a drop-in event this week aimed at helping recent arrivals settle into the community and access local support services.
The Newcomer Drop-In will be held Thursday, December 11, at the Clearwater Community YMCA on Franklin Avenue. People can walk in anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. with no registration required.
Organizers say the evening offers settlement support, referrals, information about community programs and a chance to meet other residents. The event is designed to provide services outside regular daytime hours and refreshments will be available.
The session is hosted in partnership with the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo, the Newcomer Interagency Network Wood Buffalo LP, FRAP, the Northern Alberta YMCA and Shine On.
