FORT MCMURRAY — A new publication highlighting the stories, strengths and opportunities of the region has been released as Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development and Tourism launches a special edition of Your McMurray Magazine titled This is Home.
The magazine, produced in partnership with Your McMurray Magazine, is designed to share an authentic, people-driven portrait of the region. FMWBEDT interim CEO Lisa Sweet said the goal is to showcase the voices and experiences that reflect the spirit of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.
“This special edition tells the real story of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo — a story of opportunity, resilience and community pride,” Sweet said. “Whether you are a resident, a newcomer, a visitor or an investor, this publication shows why this place isn’t just where we live — it’s home.”
The publication features local perspectives, success stories, and examples of innovation, entrepreneurship and cultural richness. It highlights both urban and rural communities, emerging tourism experiences and the region’s economic potential.
Editor-in-chief Krista Balsom said the collaboration celebrates the depth and diversity of the region. “This is Home reflects the authentic voices of the region and celebrates the people and stories that make it truly special,” she said.
Distribution includes Fort McMurray, regional communities, work camps and industrial sites, along with expanded circulation in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and satellite communities within an hour of each major centre. Digital copies are available on the FMWBEDT and Your McMurray Magazine websites.
FMWBEDT says the publication is intended as a resource for residents, employers, newcomers, investors and visitors interested in the character and potential of the region.
The organization, created in 2018, leads economic development and tourism efforts aimed at growing investment, strengthening partnerships and promoting Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo as a place to live, work, visit and do business.
