With the cold continuing across the region, residents may want to leave a little extra hot chocolate out for the big elf tonight.
A Yellow Warning for Cold remains in effect, as temperatures dip well below what’s typical for this time of year. Normally, the region sees average daytime highs near –13°C and overnight lows around –23°C.
Instead, much colder air has settled in, bringing temperatures below seasonal norms. Overnight wind chills could push close to –45°C, especially during the late night and early morning hours.
Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors when possible, and check on vehicles, pets, and neighbours, particularly during the coldest parts of the day.
Cold-weather precautions remain important as these conditions persist.
