FORT McMURRAY — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road will see traffic disruptions Friday morning due to a wide load moving north.
Municipal officials say two modular homes will be transported along the winter road on Feb. 13. Southbound traffic will be closed from midnight to 10 a.m., while northbound drivers should expect delays during that period.
The winter road is currently operating at its maximum weight limit of 45,000 kilograms. The La Loche Winter Trail is also at its maximum load limit of 27,500 kilograms.
The municipality is reminding drivers to stay to the right, particularly on hills, and notes heavy vehicles such as fuel trucks and semi-trailers require a permit to use the winter road.
Updates and safety information are available through the municipality’s website and winter road hotline.
