Fort McMurray Oil Barons
FORT McMURRAY — Fort McMurray Oil Barons playoff games will be broadcast live on local radio for the first time, giving fans across the region another way to follow the team during the postseason.
Play 103.7 says it will carry the games live, including pre- and post-game coverage, allowing supporters to stay connected to the Alberta Junior Hockey League club throughout its playoff run.
Station officials say the broadcasts are aimed at fans who may be working shifts or unable to attend games in person.
“This community lives and breathes hockey,” said Cat Jones, market lead for Harvard Media in Fort McMurray. “The Oil Barons have an incredible fan base, and we’re thrilled to help bring the excitement of playoff hockey to listeners across the region.”
The broadcasts are being supported by several local sponsors, including Coldwell Banker United, Fort McMurray Toyota and Northern Plumbing & Heating.
Oil Barons officials say the live coverage will allow more residents across the Wood Buffalo region to take part in the excitement of playoff hockey.
“This is an exciting moment for our team and our fans,” said Jonathan Lambert, director of business and community engagement for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. “Whether you’re in the stands, at home, or working a shift, we want everyone cheering along with us.”
Broadcast times and dates will be announced as the playoff schedule progresses.
