FORT McMURRAY, Alta. — The Wood Buffalo RCMP are inviting residents to get outside and enjoy the late winter weather with a community sledding event alongside Monty the Safety Bear.
Officers and the RCMP’s long-time mascot are set to host the public at the Holy Trinity High School football field on March 27 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The event comes as warmer temperatures begin to settle across the region, with police encouraging families to take advantage of remaining snow before it melts.
Mounties say the informal gathering is aimed at building positive connections with the community while promoting outdoor activity and winter safety.
Monty the Safety Bear, a familiar presence at community events across Alberta, will be on hand to interact with children and families during the afternoon.
Organizers say residents of all ages are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring sleds and dress for changing conditions as the season transitions toward spring.
