Only in Canada could this happen.
A routine night at an NHL game turned into something straight out of a movie when a fan went into labor mid-game…and actually gave birth inside the arena.
The wild moment happened during a matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
According to reports, the woman went into labor during the second period, and by the time the third period rolled around, there was officially a new hockey fan in the building.
Broadcasters even broke the news live on air, telling viewers that a baby was being born on the seventh floor of the arena…which is not exactly your typical in-game update.
Forget souvenirs! This kid’s first memory is technically an NHL game. And let’s be honest, that’s a pretty strong origin story. Most people get “born in a hospital,” this kid gets “born during an Oilers game.”
The Oilers may not have had the best night on the ice, losing 5–1, but somewhere in the building, a completely different kind of win was happening.
No word yet on the baby’s name, but there are already some solid suggestions floating around — Connor, Leon… maybe even “Rogers” if you really want to lean into it.
One thing’s for sure: that kid is going to have the best “where were you born?” story for the rest of their life.
