FORT McMURRAY — Keyano College is set to mark a new naming partnership with Birch Mountain Enterprises at its main athletics and fitness facility, in a move aimed at strengthening ties between education and industry in northern Alberta.
The college will host an event Wednesday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre to celebrate the agreement, bringing together school leadership, industry partners, students and community members.
A program beginning at 3:15 p.m. is to include formal remarks, a presentation and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with photo opportunities featuring students, athletes and college officials. Media have been invited to attend and are asked to arrive ahead of the start time.
College president and CEO Dr. Scott MacPherson is expected to speak at the event, alongside representatives from Birch Mountain Enterprises. The partnership reflects ongoing collaboration between the college and regional employers, particularly in sectors tied to construction, energy and industrial services.
The Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre serves as a central hub for recreation, athletics and training at the Fort McMurray campus, supporting both student-athletes and community programming. The facility includes fitness and training spaces used for academic programming as well as public access.037
