The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is inviting residents, businesses, and community groups to take part in this year’s Canada Day celebrations with registration now open for the 2026 parade.
The Canada Day Parade will take place July 1 at 10:30 a.m., travelling along Franklin Avenue from Main Street to Riedel Street. Organizers say floats, walking groups, sports teams, nonprofits, and local businesses are all encouraged to apply and showcase their community pride.
Registration for parade entries is open until June 16 at rmwb.ca/CanadaDay. Non-profit groups also have the chance to apply for one of eight fundraising opportunities through key event support roles, helping raise money while being part of the celebration.
A sensory-friendly portion of the parade will run from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. along Main Street between Clearwater Drive and Franklin Avenue for those looking for a quieter viewing experience.
Beyond the parade, Canada Day festivities will continue throughout the day with family activities, entertainment, and community programming expected at multiple locations including MacDonald Island Park and kiyām Community Park.
Officials say Canada Day is an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate unity, connection, and local pride.
