Father Mercredi Grads, 2026
FORT McMURRAY — Fort McMurray Catholic Schools has celebrated the graduation of approximately 460 students from its three high schools, including the fourth graduating class from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic High School.
The division says students received diplomas during ceremonies held over the past several weeks as graduates prepare to enter post-secondary education, apprenticeships and the workforce.
Holy Trinity Catholic High School graduated about 220 students during ceremonies held May 29, while approximately 180 students received diplomas from Father Mercredi Community High School on June 5. Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic High School celebrated its fourth graduating class on June 13, with about 60 students crossing the stage.
School officials said the graduates demonstrated resilience, perseverance and academic achievement throughout their high school years.
Fort McMurray Catholic Board of Education chair Dale Barfoot said graduation marks more than the completion of academic studies.
“We celebrate not only your achievements, but the faith, kindness, and perseverance that have guided you along the way,” Barfoot said in a statement.
Barfoot said graduates are moving forward with values rooted in compassion, courage and service, whether they pursue further education, enter the workforce or explore new opportunities.
Superintendent Natasha MacArthur-Poole said students are leaving the school division with lessons extending beyond the classroom.
“As our graduates of 2026, you leave Fort McMurray Catholic Schools with hearts and minds shaped by faith, compassion, service, and hope,” she said.
MacArthur-Poole said graduates have spent years developing academically while also learning the importance of kindness, service and community involvement.
School principals also praised the graduating classes for their achievements and contributions to school life.
Holy Trinity principal Lou Ann Demers-Noble described the graduating class as resilient and deeply engaged in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. Father Mercredi principal Jason Campbell said graduates demonstrated determination and spirit throughout their high school careers. Immaculate Heart of Mary principal Kacey De Pape and vice-principal Christa DeMerchant said graduation marks the beginning of a new chapter built on knowledge, character and integrity.
The graduation ceremonies conclude another academic year for Fort McMurray Catholic Schools, which operates schools throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and serves thousands of students from kindergarten through Grade 12.
