FORT McMURRAY — Six youths were issued provincial violation notices after Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of mischief in the Timberlea neighbourhood early Monday morning.
RCMP said officers received a 911 call at approximately 1:40 a.m. from a resident on Ball Place who reported a group of youths throwing garbage and an axe at a home.
Police were told the group left the area in a grey Hyundai Tucson.
Officers conducted patrols and later located the vehicle with six youths inside.
RCMP said the suspects, ranging in age from 16 to 17, were identified and issued multiple provincial violation notices. Their parents were also notified.
Police did not report any injuries.
Wood Buffalo RCMP are encouraging residents to continue reporting suspicious or concerning activity in their neighbourhoods, saying public reports help officers identify areas requiring additional patrols and enforcement.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
The investigation is continuing.
