FORT McMURRAY — Wood Buffalo’s biggest celebration of local arts is just around the corner, and tickets are now on sale.
The 2026 Wood Buffalo Excellence in Arts Awards, commonly known as the Buffys, will return Oct. 17, recognizing the artists, performers and creative champions who help shape the region’s cultural community.
Hosted by Arts Council Wood Buffalo, this year’s event carries the theme Electric Midnight and will feature live performances, local artwork, food and entertainment. Early bird ticket pricing is available until Sept. 1.
Arts Council Wood Buffalo is a non-profit society and registered charity whose mission is to build a thriving community through the arts. The organization supports local artists through professional development, collaboration, advocacy and community events while working to strengthen the region’s creative sector.
The council says its long-term vision is a creatively empowered Wood Buffalo, with strategic priorities focused on growing a thriving arts community, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, strengthening partnerships and advocating for the arts as an essential part of healthy, connected communities. Its work is also guided by a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, inclusion and removing barriers to participation in the arts.
