FORT McMURRAY, Alta. — Wood Buffalo RCMP have charged a Fort McMurray man in connection with a theft from an apartment complex storage unit in Timberlea and are still trying to identify a second suspect.
Police began investigating April 21 after receiving a report of a storage unit being broken into sometime between March 27 and April 20.
RCMP say investigators obtained and reviewed hours of surveillance footage showing suspects entering the storage area and leaving with several belongings on April 12 and again on April 18.
Police identified a male suspect through the investigation and arrested him without incident Aug. 19.
Len Labelle, 38, of Fort McMurray has been charged with theft over $5,000.
The charge has not been proven in court.
Labelle was held in custody for a judicial interim release hearing and has since been released. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Aug. 26.
RCMP say surveillance footage also showed a female suspect who has not been identified.
