FORT McMURRAY — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has released its fall transit guides for high school and Keyano College students.
The guides provide students and parents with school-specific routes, morning start and afternoon departure times, regular transit connections, fares, pass-purchase locations and instructions for using Transit On Demand.
They also include information about transfers, tracking buses, lost property, transit safety and how to report unsafe or disruptive behaviour.
The high school guide covers service to Westwood, Holy Trinity, École McTavish, Father Patrick Mercredi and Fort McMurray Composite high schools.
Changes and service adjustments highlighted for the fall include the cancellation of Route 403 to Father Patrick Mercredi and combined morning service on routes 302 and 303 to École McTavish.
Dedicated school routes operate on school days to supplement regular service, and all passengers may use both school and regular routes.
The Keyano guide identifies routes 1 and 2 as core services providing direct connections to the college. Those routes generally operate every 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the time of day.
Route 4 provides service to Keyano and other downtown destinations, including MacDonald Island Park and the Wood Buffalo Regional Library. The guide says Route 4 will not operate after 6 p.m. on weekdays or on weekends.
Students can use Transit On Demand when neighbourhood service is unavailable. The service operates from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the final trips required to be booked by 10:30 p.m.
On Demand trips remain within the zone where they originate. Passengers travelling between zones can connect using routes 1, 2 or 6.
The cash fare is $2.25, while an 18-ride ticket sheet costs $36. Monthly student passes cost $57.75, and students are reminded to bring identification when purchasing a pass.
Passengers paying with cash or tickets can request a free transfer valid for 90 minutes. Transfers are not required for monthly pass holders.
