FORT MCMURRAY — Wood Buffalo RCMP are searching for two suspects after a home invasion on Birch Road left one resident injured Tuesday night.
Police responded to a 911 call at about 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 1 after two unknown suspects forced their way into the home through a back door.
RCMP say several residents were inside at the time.
One resident confronted one of the suspects and was struck with a crowbar, suffering injuries. No other residents were physically injured.
Police say several items were stolen before both suspects fled the area.
It is not yet known whether the suspects and residents knew each other.
Wood Buffalo RCMP Police Dog Services searched the area following the home invasion but were unable to locate the suspects.
Police describe one suspect as a white man and the other as a Black man. Both were wearing black clothing with their faces covered.
The suspects are described as having slender builds and standing between six feet and six-foot-two.
Wood Buffalo RCMP Forensic Identification Services is assisting with the investigation, while officers are conducting neighbourhood inquiries in the area.
Police are asking anyone who noticed suspicious activity around Birch Road at the time of the home invasion to contact investigators.
Residents with surveillance video or drivers with dash camera footage from the area are also being asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4000.
