FORT MCMURRAY — The countdown is on for the Oil Sands Expo, with the industry gathering set to bring energy leaders, technology providers and operators together in Fort McMurray later this month.
The expo is focused on the next phase of oilsands development, including ways producers can increase output from existing assets while improving reliability, reducing downtime and lowering costs. Exhibitors will showcase technology and services covering automation, processing, mining, maintenance, safety and operational efficiency.
A newly announced keynote will feature Andrew Rosser, senior vice-president of Syncrude Operations, on Sept. 17.
Rosser is set to discuss the next phase of oilsands development and how operators are balancing growth with reliability, costs, emissions performance and long-term competitiveness. His presentation will also look at how technology and investment decisions can support safer and more productive operations.
The conference program will also put practical industry challenges under the spotlight, with sessions examining real-world applications in the oilsands.
Topics include new approaches to dust control, smarter heat exchanger inspections, real-time monitoring of slurry pipeline wear and ways to improve heat exchanger efficiency and reliability.
The industry gathering won’t be all business.
The Big Party — Pure Magic is set for Sept. 16 from 5 to 10 p.m. at SMS Equipment Place in the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
The evening will feature food, music and entertainment, including a performance by mentalist and magician Jeff Newman. Tickets are $100 per person plus tax or $800 for a table of eight.
