Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is continuing to rise.
The province announced on Wednesday 1,412 new cases across the province.
There are currently 15,569 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 164,531 positive tests. There are also 420 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 92 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 61 new cases and 45 recoveries which raises the active total to 593.
The rural areas added four new cases and one recovery, putting the total of active cases at nine.
Wood Buffalo National Park remains at zero active cases.
In total, 2,119 individuals across the RMWB – 1,966 in Fort McMurray, 142 in the rural areas, and 11 in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 146,933 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 89 per cent of reported cases.
There were also eight new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 2,029.
To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
