FORT MCMURRAY — The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo is undergoing a leadership change, with CEO Graig Walsh stepping down from the role effective Oct. 2.
The RRC Board of Directors has appointed Kelly Dela Ronde as interim CEO, effective Sept. 11, to provide continuity during the transition.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Graig for his leadership and contributions to the organization and the community,” said board chair Chris Pirie.
Pirie said Walsh guided the organization through several challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 Fort McMurray flood.
He said Walsh also helped put the organization in a strong and sustainable financial position while achieving strong safety performance.
Dela Ronde has been with the RRC since 2013 and has taken on progressively broader responsibilities within the organization.
“Kelly has taken on progressively broader responsibilities and has developed extensive knowledge of the organization and its operations,” Pirie said.
“She brings a strong combination of experience, leadership and organizational knowledge to the role and is well-positioned to provide continuity and maintain the positive momentum of the organization.”
The RRC says the leadership transition will not affect day-to-day operations, programs or services.
The organization says it will continue advancing its strategic priorities while working with partners, stakeholders and the communities it serves.
