Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 700.
The province announced on Saturday 1,486 new cases across the province.
There are currently 17,307 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 169,279 positive tests. There are also 445 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 94 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 88 new cases and 20 recoveries which raises the active total to 706.
The rural areas saw no changes, keeping the total of active cases at 19.
Wood Buffalo National Park remains at zero active cases, while one case was removed from the recovery count.
In total, 2,245 individuals across the RMWB – 2,091 in Fort McMurray, 144 in the rural areas, and 10 in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 149,935 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 89 per cent of reported cases.
There were three new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total at 2,037.
To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
