COVID-19 is claiming the life of another individual in Fort McMurray.
The province announced on Monday there were three additional deaths from the virus across Alberta – one of which lived in the community.
The individual was a woman in her 70s and included comorbidities, however, not much else is known due to patient confidentiality.
This is the fourth death related to COVID-19 in Fort McMurray and the RMWB, according to the province.
In total, there have been 2,043 deaths across Alberta.
Meanwhile, there were 1,391 new cases in the province over the past 24 hours.
There are currently 18,424 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 172,186 positive tests. There are also 460 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 104 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 85 new cases and 14 recoveries which raises the active total to 822.
The rural areas saw no changes, keeping the total of active cases at 19.
Wood Buffalo National Park remains at zero active cases.
In total, 2,280 individuals across the RMWB – 2,125 in Fort McMurray, 144 in the rural areas, and 10 in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 151,719 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 88 per cent of reported cases.
