FORT MCMURRAY — Holy Trinity Catholic High School is set to gain a major new addition as Fort McMurray Catholic Schools works to keep pace with a growing student population.
The planned expansion will include a full fieldhouse and gymnasium, along with three new classrooms intended to increase capacity and create more space for learning, athletics and school activities.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools says the fieldhouse will provide a dedicated space for physical education, sports, school events, celebrations and other activities that bring students together.
The division says the new facility is intended to give students more opportunities to participate in athletics, develop skills, stay active and build connections with classmates.
The expansion will also add three classrooms to Holy Trinity, providing more flexibility as enrolment continues to rise.
The project is part of a broader effort by the school division to respond to continued growth in Fort McMurray and make sure schools have enough space for students and families.
In addition to the permanent expansion, four modular classrooms are scheduled to be installed in late 2026 and early 2027.
Those modulars are expected to provide additional learning space while helping the school manage near-term enrolment pressures.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools says the combination of the fieldhouse, new classrooms and modular spaces will increase Holy Trinity’s capacity and give the school more room to accommodate its growing population.
The division says the expansion also reflects wider growth across the community and its ongoing effort to plan for future demand.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools says it will continue advocating for the facilities, space and resources needed to support students as the community grows.
