WBRL.ca Dene Language classes
FORT MCMURRAY — Wood Buffalo Regional Library is offering two Dene language classes in October aimed at helping participants learn the language while deepening their understanding of Dene culture and traditions.
The classes will be led by Elder Janette Flett-Jones and will take place Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Organizers say the sessions will use conversation and storytelling to introduce participants to Dene words and phrases.
The classes are also intended to build cultural awareness and provide participants with a greater understanding of values, traditions and knowledge rooted in the language.
Both sessions will be hosted by the Wood Buffalo Regional Library.
Registration is available online through the library’s events page, with participants encouraged to reserve a spot in advance.
The program is part of the library’s Indigenous programming, which is sponsored by Suncor.
