FORT MCMURRAY — The RMWB is looking for volunteers to help seniors and residents with mobility challenges keep their driveways and walkways clear this winter.
The Snow Angels program matches volunteers with eligible Fort McMurray households that need help shovelling snow.
Residents can volunteer individually or as part of a team with friends, coworkers or other community groups.
Volunteers are asked to clear assigned driveways and walkways as soon as possible after a snowfall and within 48 hours.
Where possible, volunteers will be matched with households in the neighbourhoods or areas they request.
The municipality says keeping walkways and driveways clear can help residents with mobility challenges remain independent and able to leave their homes for essential needs.
People interested in volunteering can register through the RMWB Snow Angels program.
Seniors and residents with mobility challenges who need help clearing snow can also apply through the same program to request a Snow Angel.
