The active total of COVID-19 cases in Fort McMurray is continuing to drop.
The province also announced on Sunday 563 new cases over the past day.
There are currently 14,533 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 224,195 positive tests.
There are also 581 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 162 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 41 new cases and 76 recoveries in the past 24 hours which lowers the active total to 1,124.
The rural areas added four new cases and three recoveries, with the total of active cases now sitting at 45.
Fort McMurray remains the worst in the province when it comes to spread of the virus.
The community is averaging around 1,414 cases per 100,000 people, while the Municipal District Of Bighorn is seeing around 120 less cases per 100,000 individuals.
In total, 5,465 individuals across the RMWB – 5,221 in Fort McMurray and 244 in the rural areas – have recovered.
They are among the 207,486 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 92 per cent of reported cases.
There were also six new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 2,176.
To date, seven individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
Vaccination Update
Over 40 per cent of eligible residents in Fort McMurray and 28 per cent in the rural areas have gotten at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Right now, those born in 2009 or earlier can book an appointment at MacDonald Island Park or participating healthcare facilities.

- 75+: 486 people (66 per cent)
- 60-74: 4,516 people (65 per cent)
- 40-59: 13,707 people (59 per cent)
- 20-39: 11,181 people (39 per cent)
- 12-19: 2,374 people (56 per cent)

- 75+: 60 people (57 per cent)
- 60-74: 268 people (52 per cent)
- 40-59: 497 people (42 per cent)
- 20-39: 269 people (23 per cent)
- 12-19: 71 people (24 per cent)
