The Alberta Medical Association is asking its members to send an SOS to the Alberta government to highlight what they call a crisis in primary care.
The AMA says this crisis impacts family physicians, rural doctors, and other specialists, adding without fixing primary care, it’s not possible to fix acute care.
The AMA is asking members to record a 20-second video sharing their names, where they work, and the impacts that are being felt.
The Medical Association adds its goal is to ensure the government, public, and media are aware of the severe impacts this crisis in family medicine is having on the practice and on patients across the province.
