The Fort Chipewyan and La Loche Winter Roads are opening up again as of Friday at midnight, but only to light vehicles.
Vehicles under 5,000 kilograms will be able to use the winter roads for essential travel only as the roads are expected to remain in rough condition for the rest of the winter due to warm temperatures and a lack of snowfall.

High-clearance 4×4 vehicles are recommended for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road, as RMWB indicates there is water overflow 6-8 inches deep at the Quatre Fourches crossing.
Drivers are advised to proceed slowly and watch for slippery sections.
