The Salvation Army of Fort McMurray is projecting to fall well short of their goal for their Christmas Kettle Campaign.
With six days left, they’ve only been able to raise $100,000 of their $200,000.
The funds raised through the campaign will be used to maintain the Salvation Army’s programs and services such as hot meals, shelter and housing services, job programs, and clothing.
“We understand that times are tough for many in our community,” said Major Stephen Hibbs, in a release. “We have seen in the past that when times are tough, our community stands together to support their neighbours.”
Kettles will be out at Canadian Tire, Michelle’s Independent, Real Canadian Superstore, Save-On Stoneycreek, Sobeys Thickwood and Walmart.
They will also be at Peter Pond Mall from Thursday to Saturday.
Along with donations, volunteers are also desperately needed.
“We have a number of two-hour shifts in urgent need of volunteers this week. If a kettle isn’t out, it cannot collect donations,” added Hibbs.
