Barbie is breaking new ground with the release of a new autistic Barbie, designed to celebrate neurodiversity and representation in play.
Created in collaboration with autistic advocates, the doll includes thoughtful details like sensory-friendly clothing, noise-canceling headphones, a fidget toy, and a communication device. Even her body language and eye gaze were carefully considered to reflect real experiences on the autism spectrum.
Why does it matter? Because toys help shape how kids see themselves — and others. For autistic children, this Barbie says you belong. For everyone else, it opens the door to empathy, understanding, and inclusive play.
It’s a small doll with a big message: everyone deserves to see themselves represented.
