Official word from Wood Buffalo RCMP is shedding light on what caused significant backups on Highway 63 during the supper-time commute Friday evening.
RCMP say officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision at approximately 6:28 p.m. on January 23 near the Bridge to Nowhere.
Police confirm the vehicle did not go into the water, despite social media posts claiming otherwise. The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
Highway 63 was closed in both directions near the Bridge to Nowhere for over an hour, causing delays for drivers.
