EDMONTON — Alberta RCMP have executed a search warrant at the Canadian headquarters of a major international construction equipment company as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.
Cpl. Troy Savinkoff of RCMP’s K-Division has confirmed police were on site executing a search warrant at XCMG on April 21, 2026 in relation to a fraud investigation.
“There have been no charges laid and I am unable to expand beyond that at this time,” said Savinkoff in an email.
The building was closed to the public during the operation, with signage posted at the entrance. On social media, people several people noted a drone was also observed operating near the site, where heavy equipment is stored.
XCMG, a China-based company, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction equipment, producing machinery used in sectors such as mining, forestry and infrastructure development.
The investigation comes amid recent legal developments involving the company. In March, a British Columbia court granted an injunction related to a dispute involving more than $32 million.
The company has a presence in Western Canada through its Edmonton headquarters and works with regional dealers. The City of Edmonton awarded a contract valued at approximately $1 million in 2024 for equipment supplied through an Alberta-based distributor.
