FORT McMURRAY — Two Edmonton men are facing dozens of charges after RCMP investigated a series of thefts and break-ins involving vehicles in Fort McMurray.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say officers responded around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to reports of thefts and damage involving at least 10 vehicles parked at a residential complex on 135A Sandpiper Road.
Police say surveillance footage showed a white Dodge Journey entering the parking garage with three suspects who were allegedly seen going through vehicles.
Investigators say property stolen from one vehicle contained an Apple AirTag, which later provided a location in the Gregoire area of Fort McMurray.
RCMP say officers located one suspect near the vehicle around 11:30 a.m. and arrested him without incident. A second suspect was later arrested at a nearby residence.
Police have identified one accused as 33-year-old Johnathan Blyan of Edmonton.
He faces 54 charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, possession of identity documents, theft under $5,000, theft of a credit card, mischief and possession of mail keys.
Blyan was released following a judicial interim release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray court May 11.
The second accused, 38-year-old Franco Quiadisimao of Edmonton, faces 107 charges including similar offences as well as failing to comply with a release order.
RCMP say Quiadisimao was also wanted on multiple unrelated provincial warrants and was allegedly breaching an existing release order at the time of his arrest.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court May 7.
Police say a third suspect has not yet been identified or located.
The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from RCMP forensic identification services.
RCMP are asking anyone whose vehicle may have been targeted and who has not yet reported the incident to contact police.
